2

Pick a voice & direct it

Choose from 8+ Slovak voices, then shape the delivery — a persona line keeps the voice in character, inline [emotion] tags shift the read at the exact word.

Slovak text to speech that gets the length and softening right

Slovak is a West Slavic language spoken by about 5.5 million people, most of them in Slovakia, and it sits so close to Czech that speakers of one largely understand the other. What sets it apart on the page is a dense system of diacritics: the mäkčeň that softens a consonant (č, š, ž, ľ, ď) and the dĺžeň that lengthens a vowel (á, é, í, ó, ú, ĺ, ŕ). Get either wrong and the word changes. As an EU official language, Slovak also carries a steady load of institutional and industrial content.

Slovak text to speech lives or dies on vowel length, because Slovak has a rule found in almost no other language: the rhythmic law. Two long syllables cannot sit next to each other, so when grammar would stack them, the second one shortens. A voice that doesn’t apply the rule mispronounces perfectly ordinary word endings. Slovak also lets r and l act as full vowels — words like “vlk” and “štvrť” have no other vowel at all — and even those can be long. Notevibes’ neural voices track length and syllabic consonants so the rhythm stays Slovak.

One standard, spoken cleanly

Notevibes generates Standard Slovak (sk-SK), the literary form built on the central Slovak dialects and used in Bratislava broadcasting, schools, and government. Slovak stress is predictable — it falls on the first syllable of a word — which helps a voice sound natural, but it interacts with the rhythmic law and with long clitic groups in ways a good engine has to weigh sentence by sentence rather than word by word.

Slovak next to Czech

Because Slovak and Czech are so close, it’s tempting to reach for a Czech voice and hope for the best — but the mismatch shows fast. Slovak has vowels and letters Czech doesn’t (ä, ô, the soft ľ), a different rhythmic law, and its own intonation, and Slovak listeners notice a Czech read the way any audience notices a near-but-not-quite accent. A dedicated Slovak voice keeps content credible for the people it’s meant for.

Where the demand comes from

Slovakia builds more cars per capita than almost anywhere, and its automotive and IT sectors, together with EU institutional communication, e-learning, and media, drive most of the appetite for natural Slovak narration. With inline [emotion] tags to shape delivery, a persona line to hold a character across a manual or a course, and MP3 or WAV export under a commercial licence, teams localise without booking studio time.
