Setswana is a Sotho-Tswana Bantu language spoken by about 15 million people, counting first- and second-language speakers, in Botswana and South Africa. It is the national language of Botswana, spoken by most of the country’s population and used alongside English in public life, and it is one of South Africa’s official languages, strongest in North West Province and also spoken in Gauteng and the Northern Cape. There are in fact more Setswana speakers in South Africa than in Botswana itself.

The letter g stands for a fricative sound made at the back of the mouth, closer to the ch in Scottish loch than to a hard g, and combinations such as kg, tlh and tsh stand for aspirated or affricated consonants. Most syllables end in a vowel, and the next-to-last syllable of a phrase is lengthened.
Setswana is tonal, with high and low tones that can separate words and mark grammar, and those tones are not written. A natural voice has to supply them from context. That, together with the fricative g and the aspirated consonants, is what makes Setswana sound native rather than read letter by letter.
