Frequently Asked Questions

How does the vocal remover work?

It uses center-channel cancellation — a classic DSP technique also known as L-R subtraction. In most pop, rock, and hip-hop mixes the lead vocal is panned to the dead center of the stereo field, so subtracting the right channel from the left cancels anything that is identical in both channels, including the vocal. This is NOT AI, it is deterministic math that runs instantly in your browser.

Is the vocal remover free?

Yes. Completely free, no sign-up, no watermark, no ads, no limits on how many songs you can process. Max file size is 200 MB.

Does it only work on stereo files?

Yes. Center-channel cancellation compares the left and right channels, so the source must be stereo. Mono files cannot be processed — the tool will refuse to load a mono track.

Does it remove vocals perfectly?

No tool can, and we want to be honest about it. It works best when the vocal is panned to the dead center of a clean modern studio mix. On older tracks or live recordings the vocal may bleed through because reverb and effects are not perfectly centered. Anything else panned to the center — kick, bass, snare — may also be reduced along with the vocal.

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. The vocal remover runs entirely in your browser using the Web Audio API. Your song never leaves your device — nothing is uploaded, stored, or analyzed.

What file formats are supported?

MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG, and AAC. Anything your browser can decode with the Web Audio API will load. The instrumental is exported as a 192 kbps MP3.

Can I use it on mobile?

Yes. It works on iOS and Android in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. Tap to upload a file, tap Remove Vocals, tap Download — that is all it takes.

Is there a watermark on the output?

No watermark, no ads, no attribution tag. The instrumental is a clean 192 kbps MP3 and is identical to what you previewed in the browser.
