Everything You Need for Audio Editing

A full-featured audio editor that runs entirely in your browser. No software to install.

Multi-Track Timeline

Layer and arrange clips on a professional timeline with independent volume, pan, mute, solo, reorder, and rename per track.

Auto Duck

Automatically lower a music clip wherever a voiceover on another track is loud — adjustable threshold, duck amount, attack and release. Ideal for podcasts and video voiceovers.

Non-Destructive Editing

Every effect becomes a removable tag on the clip — turn it off, delete it, or re-tweak it anytime. Your original audio is always kept, so nothing is baked in until you export.

Volume Automation

Draw a volume envelope right on the clip — ride levels up and down over time, fade into a section, or duck a part by hand. Fully re-editable, never baked in.

Save & Reopen Projects

Save your whole session — tracks, clips, effects, and automation — in your browser and pick up later, or export a portable .noty project file to move it between devices. Nothing leaves your machine.

Trim, Cut, Split & Fade

Precisely trim clips, split at the playhead, add fade-ins and fade-outs, align clips to the playhead, and crossfade overlapping clips.

Waveform Editing

Visual waveform display for frame-accurate editing. Zoom in to see exactly where to cut.

Voice Recording

Record directly from your microphone into the timeline. Press R or click Record — no external software needed.

Vocal Remover

Remove vocals from any stereo song with one click. Perfect for karaoke tracks and instrumental mixes.

Audio Transforms

Reverse, normalize, change speed (0.5× to 2×), and convert between mono and stereo with one click.

Remove Silence

Automatically cut silent gaps from podcasts, voice-overs, and interviews. Auto-trim leading and trailing silence.

One-Click Voice Enhancer

Pro chain: de-rumble → EQ → compressor → de-esser → limiter → normalize. Broadcast-ready voice in one click.

Noise Remover

FFT-based spectral subtraction kills steady-state hum, hiss, fan, AC. Auto-detects the noise profile from the quietest frame.

Restore & Repair

A full restoration pack: De-Hum (notch 50/60 Hz mains buzz + harmonics), De-Click (remove clicks & pops), Declip (rebuild clipped peaks), and De-Plosive (tame “P”/“B” pops) — apply to the whole clip or just a selected region.

Spectral Edit

Surgically erase a cough, hum, or click — drag boxes on a log-scaled spectrogram to attenuate just that time × frequency region, with live A/B preview before you apply.

5-Band Parametric EQ

Visual response curve, low-shelf + 3 peaking + high-shelf bands, 5 presets, and live preview before you commit.

Pitch, Tempo & Voice Changer

Shift pitch without changing duration, change tempo without changing pitch, or pick a voice character (chipmunk, helium, deep, demon).

Pro Effects

Bass / treble shelves, echo (tape delay), reverb (room/plate/hall), de-esser, limiter, noise gate — all native Web Audio.

Loudness & Analysis

Live BPM, integrated LUFS, and musical key detection on every selected clip. LUFS normalize to −23/−16/−14 in one click.

Export WAV & MP3

Export the final mix as lossless WAV (16/24/32-bit) or MP3, with a choice of bitrate, sample rate, and mono/stereo — or share straight from the export dialog.

One Online Audio Editor for Voice, Music, and Sound

Most jobs that used to mean installing a desktop program are now a browser tab. This is a free online audio editor built for everyday audio editing: drop in a file — or record straight from your mic — trim it, clean it up, shape the tone, and export a finished WAV or MP3. There is no account to create and nothing to download, and because every edit runs on your own device, your audio is never uploaded to a server.

A voice editor, music editor, and sound editor in one

It works as a voice editor — record or import a voice recording, cut the “ums” and dead air, remove background noise, and enhance a podcast or voice-over in a click. It works as a music editor and song editor — layer instrumentals, vocals, and beats on separate tracks, trim intros and outros, crossfade between songs, and even remove vocalsfor a karaoke instrumental. And it works as a plain sound editor for the small stuff: trim a clip, fix the levels, add a fade, and you’re done. One timeline covers all three instead of a different app for each.

Edit MP3 and WAV online

Import MP3, WAV, OGG, FLAC, M4A, AAC, and WebM — the editor decodes whatever your browser can play. Use it as an MP3 editor to edit MP3 online without re-compressing until you export, or as a WAV editor when you need lossless quality. When you only need one operation — cut an MP3, trim a track, or shape the tone with the equalizer — every built-in tool also has its own single-purpose page. Export back to WAV (16/24/32-bit) or MP3 at the bitrate you choose.

Free audio editing software — in the browser, nothing to download

If you searched for free audio editing software because you didn’t want to install anything, this is the point. Recording, trimming, noise reduction, pitch and tempo, EQ, and effects all run in the browser — the same jobs people open Audacity for, minus the download, the setup, and the OS-specific quirks. We put together a function-by-function Audacity comparison if you want to see exactly how each tool matches up.

Free, private, and no sign-up

The whole editor is free to use with no sign-up and no watermark. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is queued, and nothing is metered — the audio never leaves your device, so “private” here means the file physically stays with you rather than a promise to delete it later. Open it, edit audio online for free, and download the moment it sounds right.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the online audio editor free?

Yes. The Notevibes online audio editor is completely free. Trim, cut, mix, record, remove vocals, clean up voice, and export audio without signing up or paying anything.

What audio formats are supported?

Import MP3, WAV, OGG, FLAC, M4A, AAC, and WebM. Export as WAV for lossless quality or MP3 at 192 kbps for smaller files.

Can I record my voice directly in the editor?

Yes. Click the Record button (or press R) to capture audio from your microphone. The recording lands on the timeline as a new clip, ready to trim and edit. Nothing is uploaded — the recording stays in your browser.

How does the vocal remover work?

Select a stereo clip and click Edit → Remove Vocals. The editor cancels the center-panned audio (where vocals usually sit) and outputs an instrumental. Works best on commercial pop, rock, and hip-hop where the vocal is mixed to the middle of the stereo field.

Can I clean up podcast or voice-over audio?

Yes. The Fix menu is built for voice: Enhance Voice (a one-click cleanup chain), Remove Noise, De-Hum, De-Rumble, De-Click, De-Plosive and De-Esser, plus Remove Silence, Auto-Trim Silence and a Noise Gate. Tone tools like Voice EQ and Voice Compressor live under the Sound menu. You can apply any of them to the whole clip or just a selected region.

Is the editing non-destructive? Can I remove an effect later?

Yes — fully non-destructive. Every effect you apply becomes a removable tag on the clip, so you can switch it off, delete it, or re-tweak it at any time, not just Undo. Your original audio is always kept and the chain is re-rendered from it, so nothing is permanently baked in until you export.

Can I change audio speed, reverse, or pitch?

Yes. The Edit menu includes Reverse, Speed and Tempo change (0.5×–2×), Pitch shift (keeps duration), a Voice Changer, and Mono/Stereo conversion. Pitch can be applied to just a selected region; Normalize and loudness tools live under Sound → Dynamics.

Can I edit music and songs with multiple tracks?

Yes. Layer instrumentals, vocals, and beats on separate tracks with independent volume, mute, and solo. Trim intros and outros, add fades, and crossfade between songs.

Do I need to install anything?

No. The editor runs entirely in your browser using the Web Audio API. No downloads, no plugins. Works on Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.

Is my audio uploaded to a server?

No. All processing — recording, editing, effects, vocal removal, export — happens locally in your browser. Your files never leave your device.

Is this a good alternative to Audacity?

For most everyday jobs, yes — recording, trimming, noise reduction, pitch and tempo, EQ, and effects all run in the browser with nothing to install. We wrote a function-by-function Audacity review and comparison that walks through how each tool matches up.

What keyboard shortcuts are available?

Press ⌘/Ctrl+K to open the command palette and run any effect or action by name — no need to memorize a key for each one. Direct keys: Space for play/pause, R to toggle recording, + / − to zoom, Home/End to jump to start/end, T to trim to a selection, Delete to cut a selection (or remove a clip), ⌘/Ctrl+Z undo, ⌘/Ctrl+Shift+Z redo, ⌘/Ctrl+D duplicate, ⌘/Ctrl+Shift+S split at playhead, and ? for the full shortcut sheet. Right-click any clip for the Edit, Fix, and Sound menus, plus align and crossfade.

Can I save my project and come back to it later?

Yes. Open Projects to save your whole session — tracks, clips, effects, and automation — in your browser and reopen it anytime. You can also export a portable .noty project file to back it up or move it to another device. Everything stays local; nothing is uploaded.

Can I create audiobooks with Notevibes?

Yes. The AI audiobook generator turns your EPUB, Kindle, or PDF into a narrated audiobook with chapter splitting, character detection, and 550+ AI voices. Step-by-step guide.
