Frequently Asked Questions

Is the MP3 editor free?

Yes. The Notevibes MP3 editor is completely free. Trim, cut, merge, mix, record, remove vocals, clean up voice, and export MP3 files without signing up or paying anything.

Can I edit multiple MP3s at once?

Yes. The MP3 editor features a full multi-track timeline where you can layer, arrange, and mix multiple MP3 files simultaneously. Each track has independent volume, mute, and solo controls so you can balance your mix.

What's the difference between the MP3 editor and the online audio editor?

They're the same tool under the hood. The MP3 editor is focused branding for MP3 workflows; the online audio editor is broader. Both support all formats and output MP3 or WAV. If you prefer the broader branding, visit the online audio editor — it's the same editor.

What audio formats are supported?

Import MP3, WAV, OGG, FLAC, M4A, AAC, and WebM. Export as MP3 at 192 kbps for smaller files or WAV for lossless quality.

Can I record my voice directly in the MP3 editor?

Yes. Click the Record button (or press R) to capture audio from your microphone. The recording lands on the timeline as a new clip, ready to trim and edit, then export as MP3. Nothing is uploaded — the recording stays in your browser.

How does the vocal remover work?

Select a stereo MP3 clip and click Transform → Remove Vocals. The editor cancels the center-panned audio (where vocals usually sit) and outputs an instrumental. Works best on commercial pop, rock, and hip-hop where the vocal is mixed to the middle of the stereo field.

Can I clean up podcast or voice-over MP3s?

Yes. The Cleanup menu has tools built for voice: Remove Silence (cut gaps ≥ 0.3s), Auto-Trim Silence (trim leading/trailing), Voice EQ (rumble cut + presence boost), Voice Compressor (even out levels), and De-Rumble (high-pass filter @ 80 Hz).

Can I change MP3 speed, reverse, or normalize?

Yes. The Transform menu includes Reverse, Normalize (boost to peak without clipping), Speed change (0.5×, 0.75×, 1.25×, 1.5×, 2×), and Mono/Stereo conversion. Every transform is non-destructive until you export — use Undo anytime.

Can I merge and combine MP3 files?

Yes. Drag multiple MP3 files onto the timeline, arrange them end-to-end or layered, add crossfades between clips, and export the merged result as a single MP3.

Do I need to install anything?

No. The MP3 editor runs entirely in your browser using the Web Audio API. No downloads, no plugins. Works on Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.

Is my MP3 uploaded to a server?

No. All processing — recording, editing, effects, vocal removal, export — happens locally in your browser. Your MP3 files never leave your device.

What keyboard shortcuts are available?

Space for play/pause, R to toggle voice recording, Ctrl+Z for undo, Ctrl+Shift+Z for redo, Delete to remove a clip, Ctrl+D to duplicate, Ctrl+Shift+S to split at playhead. Right-click any clip for quick Transform and Cleanup menus.
