Frequently Asked Questions

How does the bass booster work?

It applies a low-shelf filter at 100 Hz — every frequency below the shelf is lifted by your chosen amount (+3, +6, +9, or +12 dB). The shelf rolls off smoothly so the mids stay clear and only the low-end gets weightier.

What does the dB value control?

The dB value is how much louder the bass becomes. +6 dB roughly doubles the perceived bass energy. +12 dB is heavy — fine for tinny phone recordings or laptop speakers, but can sound boomy on already bass-heavy music.

Will it muddy my mix?

Not significantly. The shelf is centered at 100 Hz, which mostly affects sub-bass and low-bass — below where vocals and most instruments live. For very bass-heavy tracks, start with +3 dB.

Is the bass booster free?

Yes. Completely free with no sign-up, no watermark, and no limits. Max file size is 200 MB.

Is my audio file uploaded to a server?

No. The bass booster runs entirely in your browser using the Web Audio API. Your file never leaves your device — nothing is uploaded, stored, or analyzed.

What audio formats are supported?

MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG, and AAC. Anything your browser can decode via the Web Audio API will load. The processed output is exported as a 192 kbps MP3.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. It runs on Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge on both desktop and mobile. Tap to upload, pick a dB preset, tap Boost & Download.

Can I create audiobooks with Notevibes?

Yes. The AI audiobook generator turns your EPUB, Kindle, or PDF into a narrated audiobook with character detection, 550+ voices, and ACX-compliant volume normalization built in.
